In the USA, the air fryer has become one of the most-used appliances in the kitchen. It heats up faster than an oven, crisps frozen food and leftovers far better than a microwave, and needs little or no oil for results that come close to deep-frying.

Over the last few years, air fryers have changed a lot: from small single-purpose gadgets to large dual-basket and glass countertop systems that roast, bake and dehydrate. At the same time, the number of presets and features keeps growing.

That makes the choice harder than it should be. One basket or two? 4 quarts or 10? Does 450°F really matter? And how much do you actually need to spend?

Why An Air Fryer

  • ✓Crispy results with little or no oil
  • ✓Faster than heating a full oven
  • ✓Reheats leftovers without sogginess
  • ✓Roasts, bakes, broils and dehydrates
  • ✓Quick, easy cleanup
  • ✓Saves energy on small portions

The difference between a good and a mediocre air fryer isn’t only how crisp the fries get, but also how evenly it cooks, how much fits in one batch and how easy it is to clean afterwards.

Capacity is the first decision. Around 4 quarts suits one or two people, 6 quarts works for about four, and families who cook a main and a side together are better served by an 8-10 quart dual-basket model. Just as important is the basket floor: food crisps best in a single layer, so a wide basket often beats a deeper one with the same quart rating.

Heat and airflow decide the result. Models that reach 450°F brown and crisp noticeably faster than those that stop at 400°F, and a strong fan spreads that heat evenly. Easy cleaning and low noise are increasingly on buyers’ wish lists, too.

Our honest take on the big brands: names like Ninja build excellent machines, and several of them rank highly here. But a well-known name and a higher price do not automatically mean better results. The goal of this comparison is not to talk down the premium options, but to show where you get the same everyday performance for less.

For this comparison we looked at 9 popular air fryers available in the US and assessed each one on manufacturer specifications, published independent test results, owner feedback, warranty terms and price.

You Should Look For

  • ✓450°F max temperature
  • ✓Capacity that fits your household
  • ✓Wide, flat basket floor
  • ✓Dishwasher-safe basket and plate
  • ✓Auto-pause when the basket is pulled
  • ✓PFAS-free or ceramic nonstick coating

What to Avoid

  • ✕4 qt or less for a family of four
  • ✕Low wattage in a large basket
  • ✕Oversized units for small counters
  • ✕Paying a premium for presets you won't use
  • ✕No clear warranty information

These are the 9 models in our comparison, ranked on crisping performance, capacity, ease of use and cleaning, versatility and value for money.

Scores are our editorial assessment based on specifications, independent test results, owner feedback, warranty and price, not a collection of customer reviews. Prices are reference points from US retailers at the time of writing and may change.

Review

The Cosori TurboBlaze was the most convincing all-rounder in this comparison. It is not the biggest machine on the list – the Ninja dual-basket models hold more food – but no other model combines this level of crisping, versatility and quiet operation with a price this low.

A DC fan motor with five fan speeds and up to 3,600 rpm, together with a temperature range from 90°F to 450°F, covers everything from proofing dough and drying fruit to searing and crisping. Fries, wings and frozen snacks come out evenly browned, and lower fan speeds keep baked goods from drying out.

The wide, square 6-quart basket offers more flat cooking surface than many round baskets of the same size, which matters because food crisps best in a single layer. It comfortably feeds about four people, and presets can be adjusted and saved so your usual settings are one press away.

It is also easy to live with: Cosori rates it at under 53 dB even on high, the PFAS-free ceramic basket wipes clean and is dishwasher-safe, and a safety lock and automatic shut-off are built in.

In terms of price, it costs roughly half of what the Ninja DualZone and FlexBasket models list for and a third of the Ninja Crispi Pro.

Our verdict: the Cosori TurboBlaze is our price-performance recommendation. If you want crisp, fast results for a household of up to four without paying a premium, this is the best deal in our comparison.

Pros

  • ✓Up to 450°F with 5 fan speeds for genuinely crisp results
  • ✓Wide square 6-qt basket with a generous cooking surface
  • ✓Quiet for its power (rated under 53 dB)
  • ✓PFAS-free ceramic nonstick coating, dishwasher-safe basket
  • ✓Usually the lowest price among the top-ranked models

Cons

  • ✕No shake reminder – you have to remember to toss food yourself
  • ✕Matte housing shows fingerprints quickly
  • ✕Single basket only – no way to cook two foods at different settings

Review

If you're looking for an affordable air fryer that doesn't feel like a compromise, the Cosori TurboBlaze is the one we'd point you to. It pairs 450°F with five fan speeds for fast, even crisping, in a wide 6-qt basket that feeds about four people.

It runs quietly, cleans up easily and costs far less than the premium dual-basket models. Ninja's bigger machines still win on capacity, but for everyday fries, wings, vegetables and leftovers the TurboBlaze delivers top-tier results for a fraction of the price.

How we rate: each model is scored on crisping performance, capacity, ease of use and cleaning, versatility and value for money. The scores are an editorial assessment based on manufacturer specifications, published independent test results, owner feedback, warranty terms and price. Prices: US retailers, 2026, reference only.
